## Bourn Free in Cipher City

I guess being born in the late 1900s has its benefits.

You grow up between dial tones, beige towers, burnt CDs, cracked jewel cases, blinking routers, and the strange promise that the internet was going to set everyone free. You learn early that the screen is not a window. It is a door. Sometimes it opens. Sometimes it opens you.

I feel like Neo, and I hate it.

From the Cult of the Dead Cow to Anonymous, from old zines and dead forums to modern threat reports with names like storms and ghosts, I have lost myself more than once in the mess beneath the web. The under-web. The place between curiosity and consequence.

These days, I am mostly just trying to pay bills.

That is the part nobody puts on the movie poster.

There is no orchestral music when the old scene kid becomes the tired engineer. No rain-soaked rooftop. No glowing green prophecy. Just rent, work, coffee, logs, tickets, dashboards, meetings, and the strange memory of who you were before the world found a way to monetize every instinct you had.

You had Honest, Hardworking Mike since June 5th, 2016.

That was the clean build.
That was the signed version.
That was the man who came here to enjoy life with his wife.

But the map still glitches when they scan me.

Maybe that is because some people knew my handles before they knew my name. Maybe it is because a kid raised on cyberpunk, packet noise, and broken corporate promises never really disappears. Maybe every ghost leaves a checksum.

But what do you care?

Same old story.

What can I do for you today?
